Every EKOńeu bag, wallet, and belt begins with full-grain Italian leather, sourced from tanneries in Tuscany that have practiced their craft for generations. We work exclusively with vegetable-tanned hides — a process that uses natural tannins derived from tree bark, roots, and leaves rather than the heavy metals and synthetic chemicals used in conventional chrome tanning.

The difference is not just environmental. Vegetable-tanned leather develops a rich patina over time, deepening in character with every touch and every year of use. It is leather that ages the way a good story does — with depth, texture, and meaning. Chrome-tanned leather, by contrast, is produced quickly and cheaply, and rarely outlasts a few seasons.

The Makers

Our pieces are crafted in small family-owned workshops in and around Florence — the same city that gave the world Botticelli, Brunelleschi, and some of the finest leather goods ever made.
